The Family Eric
& Janie both grew up in the country, but spent several years living
in the city while attending college and working. However, it wasn’t
long before their strong love of nature drew them back to their roots.
Janie grew up on a small farm – in fact, the very same farm that is today home to Trillium Dorper Ranch. Janie has an academic background in law and early childhood education, while her farming and shepherdess experience comes from growing up on the farm. Eric has always been fascinated with animals and brings with him a wealth of experience from his professional career with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. He works on the Central Experimental Farm, a National Historic Site and working research farm in the heart of downtown Ottawa. His access to countless agricultural professionals and the largest collection of agricultural resources in Canada is fundamental to the success of Trillium Dorper Ranch and its clients. Equally important to our breeding program is the invaluable experience brought to the farm by Janie’s father and grandfather. Both have been shepherds their entire lives and have been instrumental in making Trillium Dorper Ranch a success. Our family also includes many pets. Our three cats, Pumpkin, Delmer and Ojobojos help keep the mice away and are always first at the door to great our visitors! We also consider our Dorpers and other farm animals a part of the family. As such, they are treated with love and respect and are always cared for to the best of our ability. We’re always happy to show you our Dorpers and answer some questions,
so come by for a tour and meet the family!
